July 24, 2015 - Finding Carter
Susanne Daniels, a maestro executive who took over conduct of programming during MTV in 2012, is exiting her post, Deadline has learned. She is headed to YouTube. MTV has promoted Mina Lefevre to a purpose of EVP and Head of Scripted Development, overseeing all scripted growth and programming for a network, and she will co-head programming alongside Lauren Dolgen, Head of Reality Programming and EVP Series Development. Daniels’ position will not be filled.
Lefevre is a former ABC Family VP Development and Programming who was Daniels’ initial vital executive sinecure during MTV, drumming her SVP and Head of Scripted Programming. Daniels upped Dolgen to her stream post in 2013.
Lefevre, who was behind Pretty Little Liars during ABC Family, was credited with launching MTV’s scripted successes including Scream, Finding Carter and Faking It and is building a upcoming fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles. She will report directly to MTV boss Stephen Friedman along with Dolgen.
“From Shannara to Finding Carter, Mina has an implausible talent for building wholly new worlds, stories, and characters that always feel relatable and genuine to a fans,” pronounced Friedman. “As MTV continues to pursue even some-more desirous scripted projects, we’re anxious to have a care of a creative, collaborative executive like Mina.”
Here is the inner memo sent by Friedman about Daniels’ departure:
In only underneath 3 years here, Susanne has helped beam a Development group to some extensive wins, from a launch of hits including “Finding Carter,” “Faking It,” “Are You The One?,” “Broke A$$ Game Show,” and, most recently, “Scream;” to a strengthening of existent franchises like “Real World,” “Challenges,” “Ridiculousness,” and “Fantasy Factory.” She’s been a clever artistic talent for a brand, a courteous personality for a organization, and a good partner for me. we will privately skip her superb clarity of humor, her regard and candor, and those smashing occasions when she incidentally hangs adult on a 40-person VC (sorry, Susanne – we had to J). We wish her all a best.
We’ve got a full and clever tube of calm as we pierce forward, as well, including 90 projects in growth opposite all platforms. In further to “Shannara” and “Girl Code Live,” and we’ll also see a launch of “Todrick,” “Follow a Rules,” “Greatest Party Story Ever,” and “Middle of a Night Show” before a finish of a calendar year. In a fall, we’ll also move “Awkward,” “Faking It,” “Finding Carter,” and “Are You The One?” behind for new seasons.
